Cheap and Chic Ways to Spruce up a Bathroom

Giving your bathroom a facelift doesn’t have to break the bank.  In fact, a complete overhaul isn’t necessary to create that calming spa-like refuge you so deeply desire.  We chatted with Stephan Haubrich from H. S. Remodeling and he gave us some tips for sprucing up your bathroom while saving money:

  1. Keep in mind, one of the major costs in a remodel is moving fixtures, such as the toilet, sink, and tub. If you can keep the same floor plan, you’ll spend less money.
  2. If you want to re-tile but don’t want spend a fortune, limit the tile to the floor and tub surround with a drop-in shower stall. If you’re dreaming of glass tile mosaic, consider using the expensive tiles as accents.
  3. Remember, sometimes it’s the small changes that make a big difference. For example, paint can hide a multitude of sins. Remove dated wall coverings and choose a trendy color for those dingy walls. Replacing a toilet and/or outdated vanity can instantly transform a bathroom. If the bathroom is small, consider installing a new pedestal sink. Change the knobs on your cabinets and doors. Replace outdated light fixtures with a chandelier, dimmers, or decorative wall sconces.
  4. Replacing faucets is easy to do. Consumers can choose from brass, copper, chrome, nickel, matte, or shiny finishes in all price ranges. If you’re looking to make a more dramatic statement, choose a modern, contemporary style.
